Some of my hiking friends tell me there are great places to hike that are not wilderness. Of course, I’m aware of that and can often be found in those places. One of those places is Camp Creek Falls in Cave Creek, which is part of the 325 mile Maricopa County Trail.
But the Camp Creek Falls hike is only 7 miles round trip. Most of the hike is desert terrain in wide open spaces so wear hats and sun screen.
Then you drop down about 300 feet and all of a sudden boulders and cliffs appear. You go around the corner and a stunning stream appears. You follow the stream for about a quarter of a mile and there is the marvelous waterfall among the granite boulders. Visitors get as close to the waterfall as possible. And almost everyone was posing at the waterfall for photos. I posed for photos just under the waterfall. Some were climbing the rocks above the waterfall.
